In 2005, the United Kingdom spent US$ 10.7 billion on Official Development Assistance (ODA), which corresponds to 0.48% of its gross national income (GNI). Bilateral means represented 75% of the total, while 25% was multilateral.

Civil Society Challenge Fund (CSCF)
: This instrument provides grants to UK-based non-profit organisations or networks that seek to implement development projects in co-operation with a local civil society partner.
