Background
The Small Grants Fund is an instrument which subsidises small scale assistance projects in partnership with Polish diplomatic missions, particularly in Africa and Asia.
Grant Size
Maximum grant size: US$ 15,000; average grant size: US$ 3,000.
Own Contribution
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not ask applicants to make any obligatory contribution.
Funding Priorities
The aims of the grants are to assist in the following areas:
• Poverty reduction and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in selected developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America
• Supporting the processes of transformation, democratisation and free market transformation in selected Central European countries, East, Central Asia and the South Caucasus
Grantmaking Criteria
The Small Grants Fund is open to all applicants except Polish NGOs. The beneficiary country where the project takes place must be on the list of recipient countries of the OECD DAC. Otherwise, the project application will be rejected for formal reasons.
Only in exceptional cases will the Small Grants Funds be used to provide humanitarian aid.
Guidelines
Prior to the submission of project proposals, pre-registration on the Polish online portal is required. The projects must fit into one of the funding priorities. They should fulfil the general criteria of local ownership, sustainability, gender equality, partnership and responsibility for development.
Project Duration
Maximum one year.
Deadline
Depends on the individual call.
Application and Procedures
It is necessary to register your organisation on the Polish Aid website prior to application. Once completed, applications must be submitted both online and in printed form.

There is an online application in Polish that can be found on the PolishAid website. Applications can also be found at Polish embassies in developing countries in Africa and Asia.1
