In a new report to be issued on 18

Resources: WHO report on Women and health: Today’s
Evidence Tomorrow’s Agenda
9 November
A report commissioned by the World
Health Organization gathers a baseline of data about the health of women
and girls throughout their lives, in different parts of the world and in
different groups within countries. Amongst its findings, the report
reveals that the health status of girls and women in sub-Saharan Africa
is, by nearly every measure, the lowest in the world: “for women aged 20
to 60 years in affluent countries, the risk of premature death is only 6%.
In sub-Saharan Africa, the risk is 42%, or seven times higher.” The full
report can be retrieved here:http://whqlibdoc.who.int/publications/2009/9789241563857_eng.pdf
