EU News: 12th Africa-EU Ministerial Troika
meeting
28 April
In the framework of the EU-Africa
political dialogue, ministerial representatives from Africa and the
European Union gathered in Luxembourg to discuss key global challenges and
progress made in the implementation of the EU-Africa Joint Strategy,
adopted at the Lisbon summit in 2007. While the MDGs form an integral part
of the Strategy, no specific mention of health was made in the final
communiqué, as the meeting focused on the economic crisis and security
issues. Participants did however call for a stronger civil society
involvement in the Lisbon agenda, while the EU stressed the importance of
women’s participation in climate change. The document can be found

change. The publication, including analyses and policy recommendations,
