European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights: To

Education Sector Development
Somalia: To develop a sustainable, cohesive education system. Special
attention is paid to the impact of HIV/AIDS on education and how education

Support to Human Rights and Good Governance
Programme: To strengthen the role of Jordanian civil society in public
policy. - In Jordan, until 03.05.2009, budget: 500,000
€.
Cypriot Civil Society in Action III: to strengthen the role of
civil society in the Turkish Cypriot community. Amongst others it provides
support to CSOs who are focused on women’s rights with a view to promote
gender equality in the society. - In Cyprus, until 07.05.2009 , budget:
900,000 €.

EU News: DSW redesigns Euroresources
website

With the intention of offering more
accessible and useful information on the EU funding environment, DSW has
redesigned its Euroresources website. Euroresources now showcases a wider
selection of free content, resources and publications to assist CSOs
working in the field of SRH understand and access EU funding. In addition,
the website now hosts an archive of all previous nEUws editions. http://www.euroresources.org

EU News: Development Committee adopts resolution on
EC Development assistance to health services in Sub-Saharan
Africa
17 February
The Court of Auditors released a
critical analysis of the European Commission’s effectiveness in the
development of health systems in Sub-Saharan Africa in January. The
Development Committee of the European Parliament discussed the findings of
this report—specifically its indictment against problems with General
Budget Support—and passed a resolution on the subject. The resolution
calls for EU funding instruments such as Budget Support to be better
measured according to their outcomes, and providing a stronger emphasis on
health.

Resources: WHO and UNAIDS Resource Kit
UNAIDS and WHO have produced a substantial “toolkit” to
assist civil society organisations in developing strong project proposals
for Global Fund HIV interventions in round 9. The kit is honed by
technical experts from UN agencies and civil society, and includes a
number of documents, guides and statistical data that seeks to provide
organisations with both example and support to strengthen the quality and
effectiveness of their proposals. The entire guide is available online at

Resources: World Bank e-Learning
The World Bank has redesigned their “Health Outcomes and
the Poor” e-learning course, and are currently accepting applications from
prospective participants. The course aims to assist PRSP authors to
improve the analysis and policies in the health sector; and Poverty
Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) reviewers to advise authors on how to
improve the quality of health inputs into PRSPs. This six-week course is
intended to fill a need for training on what some of the options are for
writing the health component of the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers. For
