EU News: Council of Europe report states that abortion on demand should be made legal across Europe

17 March

A new CoE report says that abortion on demand should be made legal across Europe. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is demanding that countries where abortion is still either illegal or severely restricted must grant women access to the procedure. Abortion remains illegal in Ireland in the Republic and in the North Andorra, Malta and Poland. In its first report on abortion, the Council of Europe said that terminations must be available on request in each member state. That demand comes from its Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men.
