EU 2008 Preliminary Draft Budget (PDB) Increases SRH Spending
After DSW educated a budget expert and several Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), German MEP Frithjof Schmidt proposed an amendment to the 2008 PDB, asking for an increase of €2,28 million for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. The amendment’s justification says “In 2007 there was no spending on SRHR at all, whereas average spending over the period 2003 and 2006 amounted to €18,49 million.” On 10 September the Development Committee of the European Parliament (EP) will vote on this amendment. Please find the preliminary draft budget and its amendments here.
