Some parliamentarians argued the EC pushes for spending on trade related issues in stead of human development. For more information on the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, click here.

Report by Alliance 2015
Alliance 2015, a coalition of development NGOs, has issued a report to mark the mid-point of the MDGs which concludes that EU aid programmes do not contribute adequately to international efforts on poverty reduction. The report states that out of 61 programmes devised by the EU for implementation in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) bloc, only two list health as a priority. For more information on the report and the Alliance, click here.
Why Europe must act now to rescue the health MDGs
Action for Global Health released a new analysis of EU global health funding. It compares donor commitments and actual practice, concluding that a ‘business as usual’ approach will mean that the health related MDGs will be missed. The report can be found here.

Although sexual and reproductive health is not once mentioned in this report, 'health research' is seen as a means to achieve the MDGs and 'Good health for all' is mentioned as one of the main pillars under the “investing in people” thematic programme. Find the report here. |
