Calls for Proposals
The calls on the following European Commission budget lines are usually open for organizations and projects interested in SRHR. For further details on any of these Calls or corrigenda see the EuropeAid website.
Development Cooperation Instrument:
This new call for proposals promotes mutual awareness, understanding and cooperation between the EU and Asia, Latin America, European Neighbourhood countries and Russia (Health is an explicit focus area):
- Asia, Latin America, the European Neighbourhood and Russia, until 03.07.2007, budget: € 3,200,000.
Assistance to Vulnerable Groups and Communities Most Affected by the Internal Conflict (VCP):
This programme aims, among other things, to improve the health of targeted groups and communities (eg through the training of health workers, midwifes and traditional healers or health education):
- Nepal, until 29.06.2007, budget: € 6,750,000.

Gender and “Investing in People” (IIP) Annual Action Plans
04 April 2007
A European Commission source has confirmed that 2007 and 2008 action plans for the IIP thematic strategy will be ready in early autumn this year, and that the 2007 EC budget will be allocated to multilateral organizations.
Nonetheless, the commission’s spending on gender in 2007 will amongst others focus on harmful traditional practices, gender based violence, and gender responsive budget initiatives. Read more about the EC gender strategy here.
Commission Calls for More Predictable and Effective Development Aid

According to EU Commissioner for development and humanitarian aid, Louis
Michel: “We now have a twofold challenge to take up. First, we must honour our promises by giving our partners greater and more predictable aid; second, our effort must be spread fairly and each Member State must honour its own commitments, which is not the case for some of them at the moment."
