Calls for Proposals
Calls on the following European Commission budget lines are usually open for organizations and projects interested in SRHR. For further details on any of these Calls or corrigenda see the EuropeAid website.
EIDHR projects aim at maximizing the effectiveness, impact and visibility of actions undertaken in support of the protection and promotion of human rights and democratization in:
- Cambodia, until: 11.06.2007, Budget: € 480,000.
- Sudan, until: until 29.03.2007, Budget: € 940,000.
Institution Building Partnership Programme (IBPP) builds capacity of civil society organizations in the field of youth, women and children:
- Russia, until: 12.04.2007€ 5,000,000.
Local Initiative Fund supports initiatives of local NGOs in order to improve the situation of vulnerable population groups (health is included) in:
- Ecuador, until: 02.04.2007, budget: 1,200,000 €.

European Commission Proposes Code of Conduct and Improved EU Donor Division of Labour
28 February 2007
The German EU Presidency proposes to improve harmonisation of EU aid to implement aid more effectively where it is needed most. A new voluntary division of labour and code of conduct between EU donors proposes to end donor "orphans" and "darlings" as well as improve co-ordination. More here.
EP Adopts Report on Budget Aid for Developing Countries
15 February 2007
This report by MEP Michael Gahler, reaffirms that “20% of total annual commitments should be allocated to activities in the sectors of basic and secondary education and basic health (including sexual and reproductive health)”.The resolution can be found here.
North and South Civil Society Organisations Criticise European Commission
27-28 February 2007
During a two-day meeting in Brussels, civil society representatives from Europe and developing countries strongly criticised the European Commission (EC) negotiations on the European development Fund (EDF) and Economic Partnerships Agreements (EPAs) for unfairly pushing African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states to sign the EPAs, for pushing trade-related focal sectors or 'governance’ for the Country Strategy Papers (instead of human and social development) and for obscuring EDF fund allocation. EU Presidency
12-13 March
The German Government has organised an EU Health Ministers' conference on AIDS in Bremen for March 12 and 13, entitled “Partnership and Responsibility - Together against HIV/AIDS - Strengthening the involvement of civil society in all aspects of the response to the epidemic." Also 12-13 March, an informal EU Development Ministers' meeting in Bonn will focus on proposed Council conclusions on HIV/AIDS in the developing world. Open Civil Society Forum with Louis Michel
