Calls for Proposals

EIDHR projects These Calls aim at maximizing the effectiveness, impact and visibility of actions undertaken in support of the protection and promotion of human rights and democratization.
- FYR of Macedonia: to educate, monitor, advocate and raise awareness on human rights (with focus on vulnerable groups); until 13.11.2006; Budget € 200,000
- Afghanistan: to educate, monitor, advocate and raise awareness on human rights (with focus on vulnerable groups); until 15.11.2006; Budget: € 235,000
- Afghanistan: to strengthen the basis for civil society dialogue and democratic discourse; until 15.11.2006; Budget € 335,000
- Too be launched soon - Eritrea: to educate, monitor, advocate and raise awareness on human rights (with focus on vulnerable groups); until 20.11.2006; Budget: € 255,000.

Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI)
October 2006
An agreement on DCI reached by European Commission (EC), Parliament and Council will be debated by the GAERC on October 16/17, 2006. The DCI structures the EC's development assistance for the period2007-2013 into geographical (Euro 10.057 million) and thematic programmes (Euro 5.596 million). Next to poverty eradication and the MDGs, SRHR are said to be “rigorously observed”. The agreement directs 20% of the geographical assistance to basic health and education. The EC will implement the programmes through annual action plans under consultation of the EP. For the moment, no link is available, but nEUws will keep you informed of further developments.
Call to Action on the priorities of EU development cooperation 03 October 2006 A Call to Action to prioritize health, education and reproductive health supplies in EU development cooperation, endorsed by 125 Parliamentarians and 68 civil society organisations in Europe and developing countries, has been presented to representatives of the European Commission by a consortium of SRHR groups working together in the campaign Countdown 2015: Europe. EP Development Committee 03/04 October 2006 The European Parliament (EP) Development Committee met Members of Parliaments (MP) from EU Member States working on development issues and agreed to meet at least once a year to improve coordination and coherence. More here.
Rights or Religion: can the EP deliver? 10 October 2006 The EP Working Group on Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Development together with the Working Group On the Separation of Religion and Politics organized a meeting dedicated to exploring the current situation of SRH and family rights as well as to identifying the main religious opponents for and supporters of these issues.

Seminar on EC related projects 23-26 October 2006 Welcomeurope, specialist for European funding and project management, is organising 2 training sessions in Brussels. “How to get European funds?” introduces the EC grants landscape and the creation of partnerships for European projects and will take place on 23/24 Oct.
